I am Hasan Ali Khan, an Indian international student, AA candidate for Substance Abuse Counseling. I have also attained a MSc in Health Communication from Northwestern University, a BSc in Physiology from University College London, UK and, I'm currently a final year MD candidate from Caribbean Medical University. I have previously worked as an assistant Muslim chaplain at Northwestern University and currently volunteer at a Sunday school for Islamic studies for Muslim American Society, Chicago North Chapter. I have a passion for health and healthcare, counseling and therapy, and politics and minority rights. Due to this I have been a contributor for the National Muslim Taskforce on COVID-19 and started a vodcast YouTube Channel called 'The Healthy Mind Chat' in which I interview experts on health, healthcare and health communication.
This project is a 4 part writing collage reflecting on a changing India. Part 1, 'Losing My Mother's India', is a creative, reflective piece reminiscing my experience of my travels to India, discovering the female influence of those memories, and how I am on the brink of losing my mother's homeland. Part 1 is also recorded into an audio project. Part 2, 'The Headlines', is an assembly of English news headlines that are snapshotting the changing India highlighting the female experience. Part 3, the comedian, is a quote from a controversial stand-up routine capturing the duality of current India. Finally Part 4, The Indian Woman—The Bright, The Confusing and The Shadow People, is a character profile of Indian women influencing the various narratives under a fascist government.
