Gen Ed: Philosophy Elective

Course Description: This Faculty/Student Honors Seminar explores core questions of relationships –personal, physical, emotional, familial, spiritual—that structure our life and experience through a few core Western and Indigenous philosophical texts. For many thinkers and activists, the multiple crises we face in our world today are structured as “failed relationships” –as a loss or a failure to recognize an essential relation (moral or otherwise): between ourselves as humans living in families and communities, between ourselves as humans and the rest of the natural world, between us and the source(s) of meaning and value in our lives.

In addition to engaging readings, we will also view and discuss films, meet with local thinkers and activists, and take a field trip together.
