Letter to Honors Graduates
Dear Honors Program Graduates,
Hopefully for the last year, the Honors Program will not be holding the traditional Honors Banquet, but we would still like to recognize your impressive accomplishments. We have created an online Honors Student Showcase to recognize our Honors Scholar Degree Designees, our Honors Students of the Year and Disciplinary Awards, and feature your final projects.
Have you completed 18 credit hours of Honors courses? You may qualify for the prestigious Honors Scholar Degree Designation. It represents the highest distinction available through the Honors Program. When transferring and applying for scholarships, the Honors Scholar Degree Designation sets you apart from other students with high GPAs and is taken as a mark of serious academic achievement and dedication. Please submit the petition by May 1st and return it to honors@oakton.edu if you believe you qualify. Be sure to include your contact information and an updated email address, so we can arrange for you to pick up your Honors cord for graduation.
Send us a short biography and high-resolution headshot (optional), so we can highlight your accomplishments on our website and in local media coverage.
Submit a project that you’ve completed in an Honors course or as part of an Honors Contract. Submissions should include a title and project description. For those who are able, we would also like to include poster session images, slide presentations, and videos. We are happy to assist students in formatting this work for inclusion. We have workshops focused on developing your academic work for larger recognition on April 6, April 20, May 4. Please join if you are able! www.oaktonhonors.com/hso
Finally, it is not too late to apply for the full-tuition Elmhurst-Oakton Honors Program Scholarship, which is due on April 15th. This scholarship is reserved for students who have completed or have nearly completed the Honors Scholar Degree Designation. This high standard ensures a very small pool of competitors.
As always, we offer our gratitude and appreciation for our students’ commitment to academic excellence and our shared learning community. Questions? Email us at honors@oakton.edu or make an appointment at www.oaktonhonors.com/appointments.
