Congratulations to Honors Scholar Designation Completers, Honors Awardees, and Graduates!
A great big congratulations to all of our Honors Awardees, all completers of the Honors Scholar Degree Designation (Designees), and all Graduates and Transfer Students who have taken Honors classes at Oakton in the last few years!
Below is the list of Honors Scholar Designees, Honors Award Winners by discipline, and Scholarship Recipients.
Honors Scholar Degree Designees 2022-2023:
Among all 2022-2023 graduates, 8 students distinguished themselves by completing 18 credit hours within the Honors Program and earning the Honors Scholar Degree Designation. This is the highest achievement possible within the Honors Program and requires an exceptional level of dedication to academic excellence.
Grace Antar was a recipient of Oakton’s Honors Scholarship out of High School. She completed 21 credits in Honors classes, including two Learning Communities, and two Honors Contracts in Accounting, all within her first year at Oakton! She was a President’s Scholar in Fall 2022, and received the Honors Accounting Award. She is continuing at Oakton next year.
Ashour Daniel completed 18 credits in Honors including one Learning Community. He has taken all Honors courses in his final semester this Spring! Ashour was a President’s Scholar in Fall 2022 and received the Honors Humanities Award. He will be transferring next year Lake Forest College.
Hasan Ali Khan completed 18 credits in Honors including one Learning Community. He has been involved in the Honors Student Organization for two years, and served as the HSO Secretary for 2022-23. Hasan was a President’s Scholar in Fall 2022 and received the Honors Global Studies Award in 2022, and the Honors Public Intellectual Award in 2023. He will be continuing at Oakton next year.
Brett Morris completed 19 credits in Honors including one Learning Community and multiple Honors Contracts for upper level Psychology courses. Brett has taken all Honors courses in his final Semester this Spring and was a President’s Scholar in Fall 2022 and received the Honors Social and Behavioral Sciences Award. He will be transferring to Northeastern Illinois University.
Paula Ortiz Silva completed 21 credits in Honors, including two Learning Communities, and was a President’s Scholar in Fall 2022. She is transferring to the Honors Program at the University of Illinois in Chicago.
Chloe Richmond completed 18 credits in Honors including two Learning Communities, and Honors Contracts for Engineering Independent Study courses. She will be transferring to the University of Illinois in Chicago.
Ololade Shittu completed 18 credits in Honors including the Interdisciplinary Research Lab, Honors Microbiology, and an Honors Contract in Organic Chemistry. She received the Honors Health Careers Award. Ololade will be transferring to Elmhurst University next year.
Lucia Zdenahlik was a recipient of Oakton’s Honors Scholarship out of High School. She completed 33 Credits in Honors, including three Learning Communities, and was a President’s Scholar in Fall 2022. She has been active in the Honors Student Organization for two years, and served as the HSO President for 2022-2023. She received the Honors Environmental Studies Award in 2022, Honors WGSS Award in 2023, and was Honors Student of the Year in 2023. Lucia is transferring to the Honors Program at Elmhurst University, having received the Oakton-Elmhurst Honors Transfer Scholarship.
